I am Peter Bourque Jr., a Board Certified Primary Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am originally from New York state in a town called Patchogue. Patchogue is an incorporated community part of the town of Brookhaven, which is on the south shore of Long Island, adjoining the Great South Bay.

 

I am practicing in the state of New York servicing clients through telehealth or virtual sessions specializing in medication management for teens and adults in the past 13 years for the following diagnosis: anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, depression, drug/alcohol addiction & chronic relapse, obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD, stress, suicidal ideation, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.

 

I am devoted to providing quality comprehensive psychiatric services my patients and pride myself in my expertise with both the diagnosis and treatment of the occurrence of mental illness. I also believe that the relationship between healthcare provider and patient is of the utmost importance. I apply a balanced approach to go beyond symptom relief and help find ways to revitalize my patients’ lives so that they can thrive in all their endeavors. 

 

I collaborate with my patients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma related to their relationships or family. During initial sessions, I delve deeply into the issues at hand and work to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my patients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.

 

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in his practice. In your first session, I will explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, I will look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I will help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better.
